Learning target / Competences

Companies increasingly need sustainable solutions to survive on the market in the long term. The aim of the overall module is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the essential aspects of sustainable goods logistics, and to apply it in practice.
Students will be able to decide for a logistical task to what extent aspects of sustainability are to be applied. They know the relevant technical developments and applications, understand their applicability and can assess the usefulness of the applicability. Based on this module, they should furthermore be able to systematically expand the constantly developing knowledge of sustainable technology, methods and guidelines with regard to the requirements and boundary conditions of a given project task.

Sustainable Logistics

Content

Technical fundamentals and applications of sustainable logistics are taught and applied in little exercises. The course focuses on goods logistics, especially in terms of transport, handling and storage. Of course, certain legal principles and standards (e. g. calculation of emissions) are also part of the agenda.

Literature

In preparation; due to the contemporary topic, current articles from professional journals will be used increasingly.

Sustainable Logistics Project Seminar

Content

Cross-semester project work in teams to strengthen teamwork skills and achieve a span on a broader topic over sequences previously practiced individually; presentation and defense of results at the end of the semester. Generally, real tasks from practice are worked on together with companies.

Literature

The literature will be announced in the course of the seminar, based on the respective cases and exercises, or researched by students themselves as part of the exercise.
