EI-3nat is a trinational electrical engineering/information technology study program . Students spend one year each, i.e. two semesters, at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Haguenau in France, at Offenburg University and at the Haute Ecole Arc in Neuchâtel (Switzerland). For the seventh and final semester, students return to Offenburg University. In the end, the successful graduates will have four degrees in their pockets: the German Bachelor of Engineering, the Swiss Bachelor of Science and the two French certificates "Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie (DUT) en Génie Electrique et Informatique Industrielle" and "Licence Professionelle Systèmes Electriques et Réseaux Industriels" (SERI).
The study contents of EI-3nat include, in addition to the fields of electrical engineering and information technology, the legal and economic differences between companies in the three countries as well as management topics and intercultural and communication skills. These contents are taught in Offenburg in German. In Switzerland and in France these topics are taught in French. Students can complete their sixth semester internship in the country of their choice.
"And moving from France to Germany, then to Switzerland and back to Germany is generally not a problem either," explains program coordinator Vera Vanié. In Haguenau, France, students are given a list of available rooms, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, the university organizes rooms in student residences and provides mobility allowances, and in Offenburg, the Studentenwerk Freiburg helps students find accommodation.
The director of the program, Prof. Dr. Elke Mackensen, emphasises that the successful program EI-3nat, which has now been in existence for more than ten years, offers more than excellent opportunities for graduates on the job market, particularly in the regional border triangle, but also beyond. "On average, all those who have completed the course have found a job within about three months," the program director sums up.
Info: Applications for the EI-3nat program are again possible for the winter semester 2020/21.
